About the Quick Picnic Quilt:
I was definitely craving a simple and summery patchwork when I designed this quilt, and I honestly feel like “design” is a strong word here! This project is simply pairing some lighter floral fabrics with some darker floral fabrics and sewing together rectangles from each. The only discerning detail that is slightly less than typical is that we are sewing together 8” x 12” rectangles instead of squares. The taller shape does lend a bit of elegance to the patchwork, and is the perfect shape for me to capture the panel style feature prints shown on the cover. The following is more of a guide than a pattern, and I hope you feel inspired!

Color choices:
I owe all the beauty in this quilt to the fabrics, and especially the bouquet panel prints.The black background and focal bouquet really sets the collection into perfect order. I only used 12 different fabrics and many of them were simply different colorways of the same fabric. While this lends a consistency to the design, a scrap version of this project would be delightful. The only really key to the composition is to balance 28 darker blocks with 28 lighter blocks. This stretched checkerboard will hold together all sorts of fabric styles nicely.
