Short Stories is a quilt that Anna Maria designed specifically to provide a home for slow stitched appliqué vignettes that she has been creating by using all sorts of stitchy texture. The Log Cabin style blocks are colored to alternate with the appliqué blocks and create a dynamic framing of your favorite 5 vignettes. One appliqué in particular will shine from the center of the quilt. The charming geometric blocks that border the quilt have a colorful square on point styling, that is reminiscent of crocheted afghans.
Anna's Appliqué Story tips and techniques are included within this pattern in case you've never created free form appliqué blocks and want some help filling the 5 appliqué vignette positions! You could also replace the appliqué block positions with coveted vintage pieces, or any favorite 16” finished block. Let the colors of these feature blocks guide the palette for the whole quilt.
